Proposal- building upgrades

I am wondering if building upgrades could be introduced-

For example if you build a wooden barracks you could then 'upgrade' it by augmenting it with stone rather than replacing it with a completely new barracks for a smaller material cost rather than replacing the original wooden barracks with the associated loss of wood stockpile.

Perhaps extensions could also be added, for example an armoury for the barracks which provides weapons upgrades.

I think you misunderstand the level of codification this game.

If you want to update the barracks, ask the admin. What I would ask is how you propose to turn a wooden barracks into a stone one without using a full barracks work of stone.

Second, there are no codified 'weapon upgrades'. If you have the technology to make better weapons, just order them made and distributed.

im not sure you understand my point.

If i build a wooden barracks i've invested 5 units of my wood stockpile. To build a stone barracks requires 3 units of stone. To simply replace the wooden barracks means i lose the 5 units of wood I used up. A better system would be if i have a wooden barracks i can upgrade it with say 1 or 2 units of stone.

In practical terms the original frame of the wooden barracks could be used to seperate the stone.

What you're doing is basically tearing down the wooden barracks, then trying to build a new barracks out of two different building materials. So the rule you have a problem with isn't the lack of an upgrade rule, but the fact that Enrique currently forbids mixed-materials construction full stop.
